On June 24, 2026, ENSTA, a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, inaugurated a unique air-sea experimental tank on its Brest campus. Particularly innovative in its design, it allows for the testing of cooperation between drones and marine observation systems, while eliminating the risks inherent to initial trials on the high seas. Co-funded by the State and local authorities, the facility addresses academic, industrial, civil, and national defense needs, as well as national sovereignty challenges.

Each year, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris presents its dissertation awards to doctoral students who have distinguished themselves through the quality of their work and the significant contributions they have made in their respective fields of research. Ten students received awards at the doctoral graduation ceremony on April 28.

From June 17 to 20, during the 10th edition of VivaTech—Europe's must-attend event for technological innovation and entrepreneurship—IP Paris highlighted the diversity and richness of its ecosystem through 27 startups, five incubators, and three interdisciplinary centers.

On Friday, June 19, 2026, Danone and l’Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) announced the signing of a partnership within the framework of the IP Paris Connexion program. This collaboration aims to develop research projects in artificial intelligence, data science, and technologies applied to health, nutrition, and consumer behavior. Danone thus becomes the first partner from the agri-food sector to join this program.

Jeffrey Harris is a researcher at the École nationale des ponts et chaussées and a member of the Laboratoire d’Hydraulique Saint-Venant (LHSV*). He develops models to numerically simulate breaking waves and their impact on offshore structures with high precision. This work contributes to new standards useful for industry, particularly in the offshore wind sector.

Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) supports innovation from its laboratories, thereby encouraging the emergence of breakthrough technologies. In this context, IP Paris is launching the 8th edition of its Prématuration Call for Projects, operated by its Innovation Lab, that aims at identifying and supporting innovative projects emerging from its laboratories.

At the Wave Propagation: Mathematical Study and Simulation Laboratory (POEMS*) at ENSTA, Stéphanie Chaillat studies how a shock wave propagates through the ocean after an explosion, as well as its potential impact on a submarine. A CNRS research director, she develops advanced mathematical models and simulation tools capable of anticipating these complex phenomena. Her work has applications in naval engineering and submarine safety.

On Friday, June 12, 2026, the SNCF Group and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) announced the signing of a three-year partnership under the IP Paris Connexion program. This collaboration aims to strengthen synergies between the academic and industrial worlds in order to accelerate the transformation of the rail system and meet the major mobility challenges of tomorrow.

Anne Tanguy is a professor at Ecole Polytechnique and a member of the Solid Mechanics Laboratory (LMS*). She was recruited with the support of the interdisciplinary center Materials for Society (M4S), as part of the STEP² project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR)**. Anne Tanguy uses numerical simulation to study amorphous solids—materials with a disordered atomic structure whose properties can be valuable in many fields, particularly aeronautics.

Solveig Aamlid is a Tenure-Track assistant professor recruited by École Polytechnique with the support of the interdisciplinary center Materials for Society (M4S)**, and a member of the Laboratory of Condensed Matter for Physics (PMC*). Her highly fundamental research focuses on the study and synthesis of materials known as high-entropy oxides, with a particular emphasis on the significant disorder they exhibit at the atomic scale. The researcher explores this specific characteristic, which exerts a major influence on the functionalities of these materials.
