The Institut Polytechnique de Paris is a public higher education and research institution comprising five prestigious French engineering Schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis. Under the aegis of the Institute, they bring together two centuries of expertise to pursue two major goals: to develop world-class training programs and cutting edge research. Building on the strength of its five founding institutions, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris has established itself as a leading education and research institution in France and internationally. École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis have contributed to major industrial and technological breakthroughs over the last two centuries. Their alumni include Nobel prize-winners and prominent figures in the worlds of politics, business and research.
An education, research and innovation institute
The Institut Polytechnique de Paris develops multidisciplinary education and research programs drawing on a community of 1,000 faculty members in ten disciplinary departments. This multidisciplinary approach creates new synergies between different fields, for example by promoting the application of new technologies to traditional engineering fields such as physics or transportation. Knowledge transfer to the economy and society is at the heart of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris' mission and its network of incubators and dynamic ecosystem helps drive cutting-edge innovation and cultivate students' inventiveness.

An ambitious, original PhD program
Top-level research relies on high-potential doctoral students. As such, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers three-year PhD programs in a wide range of disciplinary fields. Doctoral research is carried out at 32 laboratories in a world-class scientific environment. Aware as it is of the international competition to recruit talented students, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris has also created an ambitious five-year PhD program, the PhD track, for top students who wish to focus their studies on research immediately following their Bachelor's degree.

Research at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is built on the recognized expertise of its Schools in ten major disciplines: Biology; Chemistry and Processes; Economics; Information, Communications and Electronics; Computer Science, Data, and AI; Mathematics; Mechanics and Energetics; Physics; Humanities, Arts, Literature and Languages; Social Sciences and Management. The research programs established by the disciplinary departments identify key fields and develop transdisciplinary research projects in partnership with industry. Research focuses on 12 research areas: Environment & climate ; Energy transition ; Artificial Intelligence and Data science ; Networks and the Internet of Things ; Mathematics and digital simulation ; Cybersecurity ; Defense ; Geopolitics and strategy ; Innovative Materials and Quantum Technologies ; Lasers and plasma Science ; Robotics ; Bioengineering. To this end, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris has set up major interdisciplinary centers to take up the greatest economic and social challenges of our time.
A campus just outside Paris
Located on the Plateau de Saclay, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris campus brings together its five founding Schools. It offers students, faculty members and staff top-notch facilities to pursue their activities in a lively and stimulating environment. Set in the heart of one of the world's top eight innovation hubs, the campus benefits from the dynamism created by the private and public players based within the cluster. Ideally located just outside Paris, the campus is easily accessible by public transportation, allowing students and faculty members to take advantage of the economic dynamism and rich cultural life of the French capital.
