Swarm Rescue Challenge 2025–2026: save lives by controlling a swarm of drones!

The Swarm Rescue Challenge is a simulated drone swarm programming competition focusing on topics with real-world impact. Organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) and the French Ministerial agency for defence artificial intelligence (AMIAD) with the support of the French Defence innovation agency, it is open to all students from member schools of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and schools under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.

Manon Blanc, former doctoral student at the Computer Science Laboratory of the École Polytechnique (LIX*), Polina Perstneva, postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Applied Mathematics (CMAP) of the École Polytechnique, and Bianca Marin Moreno, former student at École Polytechnique (X 2018), are among the 34 winners of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science: A Generation of Innovators 2025 Young Talents France awards.

Michel Devoret, graduate of Télécom Paris (1975), co-winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics

Michel Devoret, a former student at Télécom Paris (class of 1975), received the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics alongside his British and American colleagues John Clarke and John M Martinis. The three scientists were recognized for their discovery of the macroscopic quantum tunneling effect and the quantization of energy in an electrical circuit.
