Three IP Paris researchers awarded ERC Starting Grants

Cambyse Rouzé, an Inria researcher at Télécom Paris and a member of the Information Processing and Communication Laboratory (LTCI), Marc-Olivier Renou, Junior Professor Chair holder at Inria Saclay, affiliated with the Centre for Theoretical Physics (CPHT) at École polytechnique, and Vicky Kalogeiton, professor at École Polytechnique and member of the École Polytechnique Computer Science Laboratory (LIX ***), have all three received an ERC Starting Grant for their respective projects, Q-GIBBS, QINF and FLASH.

Bruno Bellier appointed Director General of École Polytechnique

As of September 1, 2026, Bruno Bellier takes over as Director General of École Polytechnique, one of the six schools of Institut Polytechnique de Paris. He will also serve as interim President of the School until the publication of its new organizational decree. As General Engineer of Armament (Ingénieur général de l’armement) and a graduate of École Polytechnique, he also joins IP Paris governance at a key moment in its development and transformation.

2027 Calls for Proposals – CIEDS & CIMO: Harness your research for defence innovation!

With strong support from the Defence Innovation Agency, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Seas and Ocean (CIMO) are launching their new calls for proposals. The aim is to fund ambitious defence and security-oriented projects within the laboratories of Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), with the possibility of working in collaboration with academic or industrial partners. One-third of the Next40 2026 scale-up come from IP Paris

Last month, the French Tech Mission unveiled the seventh edition of the French Tech Next40/120, the flagship programme supporting France's fastest-growing technology companies. This year, 34 companies connected to Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) are among the 120 selected scale-ups. Founded, co-founded or led by alumni of the Institute's member schools, or supported by its incubators, they account for more than one quarter of the French Tech 120 (FT120) cohort. Of these, 17 have been selected for the Next40, representing more than one third of the companies in this category and highlighting the ability of the IP Paris ecosystem to nurture technology leaders with global ambitions.

ENSTA Inaugurates an Air-Sea Testing Pool in Brest

On June 24, 2026, ENSTA, a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, inaugurated a unique air-sea experimental tank on its Brest campus. Particularly innovative in its design, it allows for the testing of cooperation between drones and marine observation systems, while eliminating the risks inherent to initial trials on the high seas. Co-funded by the State and local authorities, the facility addresses academic, industrial, civil, and national defense needs, as well as national sovereignty challenges.
