EuroTech Summit 2026: Leading universities of technology join forces to shape Europe's future

27 Oct. 2026
How can Europe turn its world-class research into technological and industrial leadership? This question will take center stage at the EuroTech Summit 2026 on October 28 in Brussels. Hosted by the EuroTech Universities Alliance, chaired by Thierry Coulhon, President of Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), the Summit will bring together leaders from academia, industry, and European institutions to explore how breakthrough technologies can strengthen Europe's competitiveness and technological sovereignty.

As the European Union shapes its next research and innovation priorities and funding programs, turning scientific discoveries into technologies that can compete on the global stage has become increasingly critical.

Under the theme Unlocking Frontier Tech for Europe, the EuroTech Summit 2026 will bring together researchers, university leaders, industry executives, and policymakers to explore where Europe has the greatest potential to lead—and what it will take to turn that potential into reality.

Featured speakers will include Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy; Clément Beaune, France's High Commissioner for Strategy and Planning; and Bernard Magenhann, Director-General of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.

Discussions will focus on four areas critical to Europe's technological future: digital and enabling technologies, clean tech and energy, health and biotechnology, and security and space.

Beyond scientific breakthroughs, the conversations will address what it takes to bring emerging technologies from the lab to the market, from securing investment and expanding research infrastructure to fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and stronger partnerships between universities and industry.

Turning scientific breakthroughs into real-world innovation

A central focus of the Summit will be how to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and industrial applications, helping promising technologies reach the market and scale.

Entrepreneurs from Europe's deep-tech ecosystem will showcase innovations spanning artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and next-generation energy technologies.

Their presentations will set the stage for interactive discussions with researchers, industry leaders, and European policymakers on the challenges of funding, commercializing, and scaling emerging technologies—and the opportunities to strengthen Europe's innovation ecosystem.

EuroTech marks 15 years of scientific and technological collaboration

The 2026 Summit will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of the EuroTech Universities Alliance. Established in 2011, the Alliance brings together six leading universities of science and technology: the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Together, these institutions combine their expertise, research infrastructure, and innovation networks to advance scientific discovery, foster talent, and tackle some of today's most pressing global challenges.

Building on 15 years of collaboration, EuroTech is looking ahead with its Strategy 2030, an ambitious roadmap designed to deepen research partnerships, launch new joint initiatives, and give Europe's leading universities of technology a stronger voice in shaping the continent's scientific and technological future.
