A team from the Optics and Biosciences Laboratory (LOB*) has developed an original approach combining second harmonic generation microscopy and polarimetry to image the lamellar microstructure of human corneas. A gene known to be mutated in gynecological tumors has been identified as a major regulator of cell migration persistence. The product of this gene enables the cell to repeat an elementary migration step. This study, published in Nature Communications, uncovers a previously unknown alternative migration machinery. Institut Polytechnique de Paris announces the launch of the fourth edition of the call for projects "Prematuration", offering a unique opportunity for researchers and innovators to turn their promising ideas into innovative projects. The main aim of this call for projects is to clarify the relevant application of these projects and to achieve an initial proof of concept.

An article published in the journal RNA, in which researchers from the Structural Biology of the Cell Laboratory (BIOC*) took part, investigates the synthesis and maturation pathways of ribosomal RNA in three archaea living in different extreme environments. Using a new sequencing technique, this study revealed similarities between the three archaea, providing a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in adapting to extreme conditions.
