The Institut Polytechnique de Paris will host the finals of the interuniversity 3-Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition on June 25 at Télécom Paris. This science communication competition is open to doctoral students from participating institutions and challenges them to explain their research to a non-specialist audience in a clear, engaging manner... and in English. A preliminary local round will take place on June 4 to select the IP Paris candidates.

2025 final

In the 2025 edition, Sooyong Chae, an IP Paris PhD student in the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM*) at École Polytechnique, was selected for the interuniversity final and won first prize from the jury and the audience award. Ana-Maria Bratu, an IP Paris PhD student in the Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX**) at École Polytechnique, was also selected for the inter-university final and took second place in the competition.

Both impressed the judges with their scientific clarity, the accessibility of their explanations, their oral fluency, and their precision.
