Forum Seas and Ocean by Institut Polytechnique de Paris

04 Nov. 2025
For the first time, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Ifremer are jointly organizing the Forum Seas et Ocean, to be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at ENSTA (Palaiseau - 91). This scientific event is part of the activities of the CIMO – Seas and Ocean Interdisciplinary Center, and will also celebrate the first anniversary of its founding.
Forum Seas and Ocean by Institut Polytechnique de Paris

First edition

The one-day event will begin with a morning session featuring four plenary talks delivered by leading French and international experts:

  • An opening lecture providing an overview of the “Seas and Ocean” context at the European or global level, depending on the invited speaker.
  • Three keynote presentations outlining the major national and international directions in the field and highlighting emerging interdisciplinary opportunities.

In the afternoon, participants will attend three parallel symposia showcasing ongoing research within each thematic area and fostering dialogue between academia, industry, and society.

Objectives of this Forum

The purpose of this day is to bring together leading figures from the maritime sector across academia, institutions, and industry.

Together, they will share their perspectives and initiatives to:

  • Highlight IP Paris’ research expertise in support of maritime stakeholders;
  • Tackle key scientific, regulatory, and societal challenges facing the maritime sector;
  • Engage and inspire IP Paris students, raising their awareness of these issues and encouraging them to explore related courses and disciplines.
