Description
The Research in Design program focuses on research practices specific to design. With a multidisciplinary approach, it explores key questions, strategies, and positioning in design research. This master’s program trains designer-researchers to analyze contemporary life through design and research projects. It offers a broad curriculum covering all areas of design.
The first year of this program focuses on building a strong foundation in research tools, methods, and concepts specific to design. The second year is dedicated to developing an individual research project, leading to both a written scientific production and an exhibited artifact or installation.
The master’s degree is jointly accredited by Université Paris-Saclay and the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI–Les Ateliers), with collaborations with companies, laboratories, and cultural institutions, depending on the project’s focus.

Objectives
This master's degree aims to enable students to:
- Develop practice-based research skills in design;
- Master design-specific methods and concepts;
- Conduct and present research for academic or scientific platforms.
General admission prerequisites
Academic prerequisites
- Bachelor of Science in Design (all domains), Architecture, Engineering or any related domain.
Language prerequisites
- French
