Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU Boulder) are strengthening their collaboration through an academic partnership based on a PhD thesis co-supervision program.

On December 1, Thierry Coulhon, acting Chairman of the Board of Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) since September 27, 2023, presented his first report to French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne. The letter instructs him to "prefigure key transformations at Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) and take over its executive management".

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics honored experiments capable of producing extremely short flashes of light, of the order of a billionth of a billionth of a second. These attosecond flashes can now be used to "see" the movement of electrons. The Laboratoire d'optique appliquée (Applied Optics Laboratory LOA*) has played a major role in the development of these techniques, and is continuing research in this field today. The WHIRLS project is led by a team of international scientists, including Sabrina Speich, a researcher at the Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory (LMD*).
