Researchers from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris contributed to a study demonstrating the role of DNA structures in gene regulation

G-quadruplexes are special three-dimensional structures in DNA that effectively pave the way for the enzymatic machinery of transcription, the first step in gene expression. G-quadruplexes are present in 40% of gene promoters and provide new insights into these DNA sequences that initiate transcription.
