A look back at Seas and Ocean Forum of Institit Polytechnique de Paris
Keynote speeches to shed light on the major challenges.
The morning featured three inspiring keynotes, followed in the afternoon by symposia focused on CIMO’s thematic areas, bringing together over 150 participants.
- Keynote 1: Naval Industry & Maritime Innovation, with Carine Tramier, outgoing President of CORIMER, France 2030 Ambassador for deep-sea and transportation projects, Offshore Project Director, and Board Member at ENSTA.
- Keynote 2: Ocean Observation and Digital Twin, with Adeline Souf, Head of Foresight and European Relations, Executive Secretary of the OHI-EU Working Group, Shom.
- Keynote 3: Marine Renewable Energies, with Vincent De Laleu, Former Marine Renewable Energy Project Manager at EDF.
Notable interventions, as highlighted by Angélique Drémeau, Professor at Lab-STICC, ENSTA: “What I particularly appreciated today was Vincent De Laleu’s presentation on marine renewable energies, which really provided valuable insights at the European and international level.”
When interdisciplinarity opens up new opportunities.
The Forum was also an opportunity to highlight the synergies between the laboratories of IP Paris and Ifremer.
“We will have strong complementarities with the Paris Polytechnic Institute for sensor development, data processing optimization, and data analysis, for example using artificial intelligence and machine learning,” said Alain Lefebvre, Research Expert and Co-Director of the national research infrastructure Littoral et Côtière ILICO, COAST/LER-BL – Ifremer.
The diversity of participants enriched the discussions. “This day was important and interesting because it brings together people from diverse backgrounds. We have industry professionals, academics, and students. Moreover, it also provides an overview of all the current challenges, whether industrial, defense-related, scientific, etc.,” emphasized Luc Pastur, Professor at IMSIA, a laboratory of ENSTA, and Director of the Master’s program OFFWIND.
Doctoral students’ research in the spotlight.
The morning also featured a science communication exercise: 13 doctoral students from diverse disciplines presented their research in just one minute, captivating the audience with the clarity and conciseness of their talks.
This segment was particularly well received, as noted by Shabnam Arbab Chirani, Professor at the IRDL Laboratory of ENSTA.
The first IP Paris Seas and Oceans Forum thus establishes itself as a major annual event for connecting expertise and strengthening interdisciplinarity, paving the way for new collaborations and innovations in the maritime field.
