PhD program at IP Paris: Expanding the boundaries of science
The PhD is a degree of excellence that opens up opportunities for high-level careers in the public and private sector, benefiting from the association of the five founding IP Paris schools and their world-class scientific environment. 900 faculty members, working in some thirty research units, are responsible for supervising students' thesis research. IP Paris draws on two doctoral schools to welcome this community: the multidisciplinary IP Paris Doctoral School, co-accredited with HEC Paris, and the Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics, co-accredited with Paris-Saclay University and PSL University.
The IP Paris Doctoral school offers programs in a wide variety of disciplines in which its founding schools’ expertise (École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis) is recognized worldwide, from fundamental research to applied research. It has a strong international focus with 45% of its PhD students coming from foreign countries, a sign of its attractiveness on the global level. The IP Paris Doctoral school now welcomes one thousand PhD students, supervised by over 900 faculty members in 32 research laboratories.
There are two ways to earn the title of PhD from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris: the traditional three-year PhD program in a wide range of fields, and the five-year PhD Track, for students who hold a Bachelor's degree and already plan to orient their studies towards earning a PhD following their Master's degree.
