Fausto Sirotti elected Chairman of the IP Paris Academic Council

Fausto Sirotti, CNRS Research Director at the Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory at École Polytechnique - one of the founding members of IP Paris - was elected by his peers as President of the Institute's Academic Council on February 28, 2024. He replaces Chantal Schültz, whose term of office had come to an end.

The Academic Council plays an advisory role to the Administration Board for topics related to education and research, in particular educational programs, scientific policy and promotion of research outcomes. It can also make proposals on all subjects related to IP Paris academic activities.

"Even if, or perhaps thanks to the fact that its role is purely consultative, the Academic Council has freedom of expression on all the activities of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and represents a reference point for discussing the issues and problems facing our Institute" explains its new chairman.

During its last term of office, the Academic Council was involved in drafting the documents that govern the operation of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris: the Council's Rules of Procedure, the teaching-research strategy document, and the “Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR)” procedure.  He also interacted with the IP-Paris committees, the ISAB International Scientific Committee and the heads of all the departments.

"I hope to be able to enable all the components to express themselves and above all to understand each other by following the rules we have set ourselves to improve our daily experiences and achieve the best scientific results, and by providing quality teaching. The best guarantee for the success of our students", adds Fausto Sirotti.
