Organised by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Defence and Security (CIEDS), together with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Seas and Ocean (CIMO), both interdisciplinary centres of Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), CIEDS Operation returned on Tuesday 9 June 2026 for its fourth edition! For the very first time, CIEDS Operation was held on the ENSTA Paris-Saclay campus.
Researchers, academics, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, representatives of the Ministry for the Armed Forces and Veterans, the Ministry of the Interior, the Defence Innovation Agency (AID) and the Directorate General for Armament (DGA), as well as private-sector stakeholders, start-ups and innovation intermediaries, came together for this event.
CIEDS Operation 2026 provided an opportunity to explore current challenges in the maritime and naval sectors, CBRN threats and, more broadly, defence innovation; discover innovative projects developed by industry, IP Paris and the Ministry for the Armed Forces and Veterans, particularly in the fields of air-land robotics, cyber defence, metal additive manufacturing and quantum technologies; and foster new opportunities through the wealth of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchanges.
This edition was marked by several new initiatives: the launch, for the very first time, of a fundraising campaign in aid of Bleuet de France, as well as the integration of CIMO’s defence activities. A first-ever pitching session featuring five start-ups and partners was organised during the lunchtime networking forum.
The CIEDS team, the CIMO team and Institut Polytechnique de Paris warmly thank everyone who took part in such large numbers and contributed to the success of this key event dedicated to innovation for defence and security.
