ARWU 2026: Institut Polytechnique de Paris climbs 12 places and moves closer to the global Top 200

IP Paris continues its upward trajectory among the world’s leading academic institutions by ranking 212th in the 2026 Shanghai Ranking, 12 places higher than in  2025. This result reaffirms IP Paris’ path toward the global Top 200, which the Institute is now closing in on.

At the national level, IP Paris also confirms the quality and impact of its research, ranking  9th  among French higher education institutions for the second consecutive year.

This recognition comes at an exceptional time for our scientific community, marked in particular by the awarding of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics to Michel Devoret and the 2026 Fields Medal to Hong Wang, two distinctions that illustrate the excellence of scientific careers forged at IP Paris.

This success also reflects the strength of a model based on scientific excellence, world-class research output and the international reach of our research and teaching teams.

In addition to its recognition in the ARWU rankings, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is ranked 68th globally (up 3) and 2nd in France (up 1) in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, as well as 43rd globally and 2nd in France in the QS World University Rankings 2027 – results that reflect a positive trend in the major international rankings.
