IP Paris holds the 46th position in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2025 listing the best universities in the world. IP Paris maintains the 10th spot globally in terms of the reputation of its graduates among employers and climbs to 31st place for employment outcomes.

The Centre Interdisciplinaire d’Études pour la Défense et la Sécurité Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security) at IP Paris will be holding its CIEDS Operation Day on July 4, bringing together researchers, students, companies and personnel from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. If social and environmental impact is becoming key for all companies, how can we analyse the specific case of young innovative startups, for whom impact is still only an ambition? A study conducted by researchers in Management Sciences at the École Polytechnique and the Technology for Change Research Chair at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris has explored how the integration of social and environmental issues shapes the entrepreneurial project and strengthens so-called 'impact-native' startups. This work is published in the Journal of Management & Organization [1].

Against a backdrop of ever-pressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and declining profitability, the development of new drugs targeting pathogenic bacteria and viruses has shifted from the pharmaceutical industry to startups and academic research. Leading the interdisciplinary Antires project, Julian Garrec, a researcher at the Chemistry and Processes Unit (UCP*) of ENSTA, is coordinating the creation of an algorithm capable of predicting the mutations of a pathogen subjected to the pressure of a drug molecule.

The Next 40 2024 index unveiled on May 22, at the opening of the VivaTech trade show, bears witness to the dynamism of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris ecosystem. Fourteen of the startups listed were incubated in one of the three IP Paris incubators or founded by alumni, and ten of the 33 unicorns in France are IP Paris companies.

If you want to fight your enemy effectively, you have to know him well. Hannu Myllykallio, research director at Optics and Biosciences Laboratory of the École Polytechnique, and post-doc Rima Zein-Eddine, are studying the molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, particularly in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The enzymes they have isolated are involved in the replication and repair of microbial DNA. They open up encouraging prospects in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.

While the poorly controlled use of antibiotics contributes to antibiotic resistance, infection prevention and diagnostic aids are levers for taking action against this phenomenon. At the Laboratory of Condensed Matter for Physics (PMC*) of the École Polytechnique, Anne Chantal Gouget specializes in modifying the surface properties of materials. Her work is applied to the development of innovative techniques for pathogen detection and identification, as well as antimicrobial surfaces to combat nosocomial diseases.

Antibiotic resistance is a major public health problem today. At the crossroads of human, animal and ecosystem health, it needs to be tackled in a global way (One Health), and calls for a different approach to research, also involving civil society players. This is what the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is proposing with its antimicrobial resistance (AMR) project.

The consortium led by IP Paris and HEC Paris, and including Inria, CNRS, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and Université de Technologie de Troyes, won the AI Cluster call for projects. Based on the Hi! PARIS Interdisciplinary Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis, the project has been awarded €70 million to create a world-class AI research, training and innovation cluster serving society in France.
