CIEDS and CIMO calls for projects, 2026 projects: ‘Mobilise your research for the benefit of Defence and Security!’

Conceiving and developing solutions to meet the technological needs of the defence and security sector
CIEDS is IP Paris's interdisciplinary Defence and Security Centre. It has several missions:
- Conducting cutting-edge scientific research projects for defence and security purposes (from low TRLs).
- Targeting scientific and technological devices that are inaccessible to our forces and offer significant operational value.
- Making technologies quickly accessible to companies and supporting the transition to a pre-industrialisation phase.
Inaugurated in January 2025, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Seas and Oceans (CIMO) brings together research teams from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Ifremer with the aim of tackling the major maritime challenges of our time, both military and civilian.
Located on the Palaiseau and Brest campuses, it aims to:
- Promote IP Paris' scientific expertise through maritime applications
- Develop partnerships with leading maritime research institutes
- Conduct ambitious and interdisciplinary scientific research projects
Its three areas of research are:
- Maritime engineering, with a focus on developing sustainable ships that guarantee personnel safety and enable us to face new threats
- Ocean observation for the benefit of society and decision-making
- Resource management, coastal development and the environment
CIMO is particularly involved in developing new naval systems and optimising collaboration between different naval systems. The centre is also fully committed to French initiatives aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of maritime activities and strengthening environmental monitoring of marine environments.

The calls for projects opening on 15 September 2025 (AAP projects 2026 - CIEDS wave 6 and CIMO wave 2) fall within this framework and are intended for researchers and teacher-researchers from IP Paris laboratories, either alone or in collaboration with academic or industrial partners.
Calendar
- 15 September 2025: opening of calls for CIEDS and CIMO projects
- 3 November 2025: deadline for submitting applications
- Mid-January 2026:
- List of projects shortlisted by the AID.
- Entry into phase 2: completion of the application and dialogue with the AID Innovation Manager and the CIEDS/CIMO
- End of February 2026: finalisation of the application in conjunction with the AID IR and the CIEDS/CIMO
- Early April 2026: announcement of the 2026 winning projects, CIEDS and CIMO
- October 2026: launch of the winning projects CIEDS wave 6 and CIMO wave 2
Support for project leaders
Throughout the selection process, project leaders receive support from the CIEDS team and their commercialisation structure.
During the second period, the preselected projects are refined in collaboration with one of the 14 Innovation Managers from the Defence Innovation Agency, who are all scientific experts in their field, as well as with their CIEDS/CIMO representative. This approach aims to validate one of the AID's thematic priorities, as well as identifying potential defence applications.
The 2026 Project's calls for proposals — CIEDS Wave 6 and CIMO Wave 2 — offer researchers and teacher-researchers at IP Paris laboratories a unique opportunity to apply their research to Defence and Security, potentially collaborating with academic or industrial partners.
