Chemistry is a science that can be used to resolve many of the challenges faced by society today, from health issues to sustainable development. This program has been designed to provide students with cutting-edge knowledge in chemistry to be equipped to meet these challenges.
The program builds strong expertise in many different fields of chemistry including organic, organometallic, supramolecular, solid state and inorganic. It also builds bridges towards other scientific fields such as biology, material sciences and energy. This approach paves the way for students to develop innovations at the crossroads of different technological fields. The teaching is supported by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris research units, renowned for their excellence in chemistry including molecular chemistry, physical chemistry and material sciences.
Objectives
The program aims to:
- Provide students with a high level of experimental and theoretical scientific training based on a broad spectrum of current chemistry research topics
- Favor the immersion of students in a research laboratory environment to gain experience of new experimental techniques through a learning-by-doing approach
- Foster chemistry knowledge and understanding in direct contact with researchers and up-to-date scientific issues
To complete this Master’s degree, first-year students can enter the second-year program:
After completing the second year of the Master, students will be able to pursue a PhD or career in:
- Research, research & development in the higher education system or public research institutes
- Private sector as a research engineer in companies requiring high-level scientific knowledge or using science-based methodologies
- Entrepreneurship for those looking to develop a company project taking advantage of laboratory research and benefiting from Institut Polytechnique de Paris incubators
- Teaching in higher and secondary education
