Bienvenue sur l'Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Mechanics and maxillofacial surgery, the winning duo
As a result of malformations or genetic diseases, some children experience a distraction - an elongation - of the mandible. Jean Boisson, a teacher-researcher at ENSTA's Laboratoire de Mécanique et ses Interfaces (LMI*), is using his expertise in mechanics and magnetic systems to develop mandibular distractors that are more precise and less painful than existing devices.
The digital twin, an ally for patients and doctors
Anticipating the effects of a treatment on a patient, informing the decisions of anesthesiologists... Digital twins open up new perspectives in medicine and limit invasive procedures. Dominique Chapelle, Director of Research at Inria and researcher at the École Polytechnique's Solid Mechanics Laboratory (*LMS), is developing these “patient twins” using mathematical models based on the description of cause and effect in numerous phenomena. On World Health Day, April 7, 2025, we focus on these digital patients and their predictive capabilities.
AI: towards ever more efficient image generation
Vicky Kalogeiton is a researcher at the Computer Science Laboratory of the École Polytechnique (LIX*). As a specialist in generative artificial intelligence, she improves and develops learning models leading to the generation of images, videos and other multimodal data, including a Generative AI model capable of leveraging data more efficiently. Her work has applications in the medical, defense and creative sectors.
