[Video] A look back at IP Paris Research Day 2025

20 Jan. 2026
On December 1, 2025, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris held the fourth edition of its Research Day, focusing on numerical modeling and ecological transition. Around thirty speakers took part in the event, which was aimed at the IP Paris scientific community. It was an opportunity to create synergies and promote major projects for 2025, such as the creation of the Interdisciplinary Center Seas and Oceans (CIMO). Here is a video review of this important event in the IP Paris calendar.

Nearly 150 people gathered in the main hall of Télécom Paris on Monday, December 1, 2025, for the Institut Polytechnique de Paris's Research Day. Researchers, doctoral students, and staff attended a series of three plenary lectures—including one led by Patrick Pélata, President of the French National Academy of Technology and guest of honor at this fourth edition—and three symposiums on numerical modeling and ecological transition.

“This Research day is an important event in the life of IP Paris, as it brings together all the researchers from our 45 laboratories,” said Jamal Atif, Vice President of Research and Innovation at IP Paris.

“With 10 research departments and seven interdisciplinary centers, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is home to a wealth of scientific expertise that benefits from focusing on common themes and working together to meet the major challenges of tomorrow,” adds Thierry Coulhon, Chairman of the IP Paris Executive Board.

The École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, through the excellent training and research it develops in the field of ecological transition, played a prominent role during the day. Many of its researchers presented their work at various symposiums, with a focus on offshore wind power, in connection with ENSTA's new Offwind master's degree dedicated to this technology.

This Research Day was also an opportunity to present the Interdisciplinary Center Seas and Oceans (CIMO), created in 2025. "CIMO brings together IP Paris laboratories in a wide range of disciplines that perfectly complement those covered by our partner Ifremer. This day is an excellent opportunity to mobilize the community around these issues," enthuses Laurent Mortier, scientific director of CIMO.

At the same time, visitors familiarized themselves with the research support services offered by IP Paris, such as the IP Paris Innovation Lab and the “open science” initiatives of X and ENPC. Doctoral students were particularly interested. “We offer them training in open data repository and search platforms,” said Delphine du Pasquier, head of the open science division at ENPC, and Caroline Corbières, open science and research data project manager at École Polytechnique. “At the Innovation Lab, we took advantage of the day to launch our special call for doctoral student projects, which aims to help them think about the direct impact of their thesis on society in 2040, explains Delphine Marcillac, head of innovation at IP Paris.

Twenty-one IP Paris doctoral students were able to present their work during the day, both in a traditional poster session and through a one-minute pitch exercise in the amphitheater in front of the community.
