Operation CIEDS 2025: feedback on a day spent at the heart of defence and security issues
Organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Operation CIEDS was back in 2025! The event took place on Thursday, 3 July on the École polytechnique campus, for the last time at this iconic location before its renovation. Researchers, teacher-researchers, doctoral students, postdoctoral students, members of the Ministries of the Armed Forces and the Interior, the AID and the DGA, as well as actors from the private sector, start-ups and innovation intermediaries were able to come together for this event.
Operation CIEDS 2025 provided an opportunity to address current challenges in innovation in the fields of defence and security, and to discover the mobilisation of actors in these areas. This edition was marked by the presence of around twenty start-ups from IP Paris incubators. Innovating for defence and security is a real challenge! The start-ups and SMEs present were all dual-purpose, meaning that they have developed a product or service for a civilian use case and are all convinced of the value of innovating for the benefit of the armed forces. During the lunchtime discussion forum, they were able to test the appeal of their solutions in a defence use case in front of personnel from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and the industrialists in attendance.
The CIEDS team and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris would like to extend their warmest thanks to all those who rallied alongside them, contributing to the success of this unmissable event dedicated to innovation in defence and security.
