On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Institut Polytechnique de Paris hosted the interuniversity final of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition. Safa Gharbi, a PhD candidate at the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM), won first prize, as well as the People's Choice Award and, new this year, the Middle Schoolers' Award. Linnéa Strandberg, a PhD candidate from Université Paris-Saclay, was awarded second prize.

IP Paris and ENSTA Inaugurate an Air-Sea Testing Pool in Brest

On June 24, 2026, ENSTA and Institut Polytechnique de Paris inaugurated an air-sea testing pool on the engineering school's Brest campus. Anne Tanguy is a professor at Ecole Polytechnique and a member of the Solid Mechanics Laboratory (LMS*). She was recruited with the support of the interdisciplinary center Materials for Society (M4S), as part of the STEP² project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR)**. Anne Tanguy uses numerical simulation to study amorphous solids—materials with a disordered atomic structure whose properties can be valuable in many fields, particularly aeronautics.
