PhD Track

The PhD Track is a five-year program offered by Institut Polytechnique de Paris to high-potential students. Open to holders of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent three-year degree), this research-based program of excellence combines the Master’s and the PhD into a single, continuous path. From the first year, students are immersed in the Institute’s laboratories and supervised by renowned researchers. They are prepared to pursue international careers in leading academic institutions or companies.

Designed on the Anglo-Saxon model, the PhD Track prepares students to take up the scientific challenges of tomorrow within the research and development centers of companies and major universities.

During the first two years (M1-M2), the student combines high-level coursework with research activities in our laboratories. Leading to the Master’s degree, these years build the foundations for the student’s doctoral program. From there, the student devotes the following three years to pursuing the research project started during the Master’s, through to a PhD. Throughout the program, students are supervised by leading scientists and an outstanding academic team, and interact directly with the scientific community of IP Paris, within a world-renowned innovation cluster.

PhD Track students also benefit from reduced registration fees of €243 per year during the Master’s and €380 per year during the PhD. The best candidates are eligible for excellence scholarships.

For the 2027–2028 academic year, the application period for the PhD Track Program runs from October 28, 2026 to January 14, 2027, via the IP Paris online application platform.
