The showcase for IP Paris defence and security initiatives: the CIEDS website
Today, cutting-edge technologies play a decisive role, particularly in the fields of defence and security. It is within this context that Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) established the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) in 2021 to design and develop solutions addressing the technological needs of the defence sector.
Since its creation, the CIEDS has carried out research, training and innovation initiatives in support of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans, in close collaboration with the defence industry. The launch of its website marks a new milestone in enhancing the visibility of its missions, by providing clear and centralised access to all the Centre’s activities.
The website notably showcases ongoing and completed scientific projects, whose themes align with the innovation areas defined by the Defence Innovation Agency. These projects are grouped together on the “All our projects” page, which serves as a comprehensive project library. A project can be easily located using an intuitive search engine based on six key parameters: keywords, theme, start date, status (completed or ongoing), laboratory and IP Paris School.
It also highlights training programmes addressing defence-related challenges, offered by the CIEDS in various formats: courses, challenges, internship and research topics, conferences, continuing professional development and podcasts.
A section dedicated to innovation outlines the process for transferring breakthrough technologies, current technology offerings as well as published patents. The website also showcases the CIEDS’ numerous research and technology transfer partnerships and collaborations. These opportunities may arise from meetings at events organised by the CIEDS on specific themes or in a broader format, such as the Centre’s annual forum. This section also provides a review of each edition of the forum.
Clear, informative and a genuine showcase for the CIEDS’ activities, this website is structured around five main sections – “Presentation”, “Research”, “Training”, “Innovation” and “Partnerships” – and is enriched by more than one hundred pages of content.
