REFLEXIONS 2026 : Advancing Collective Action for Energy Transition

05 Feb. 2026
Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is proud to announce the third edition of the REFLEXIONS conference, an international scientific forum designed to address the most urgent energy challenges of our time. Following the success of earlier editions, REFLEXIONS 2026 reaffirms its ambition to establish itself as a reference point in global debates on energy by integrating technological, economic, environmental, and social dimensions into a unified vision.
REFLEXIONS 2026 : Advancing Collective Action for Energy Transition
Strategic Stakes of REFLEXIONS 2026

As global energy systems are reshaped by climate imperatives, resource constraints, geopolitical tensions, and technological innovation, the need for dialogue across disciplines and sectors has never been greater. Energy is no longer solely a matter of supply or economics; its sustainability, security, and justice must be considered together. REFLEXIONS 2026, organized under the theme “Energy Transition”, aims to provide a systemic platform in which these interdependencies can be examined collectively.

Through this conference, IP Paris seeks to promote science-based decision-making, cross-sector collaboration, and inclusive dialogue by bringing together engineers, industrial leaders, policymakers, researchers, and civil society. The objective is not only to generate ideas but also to mobilize collective intelligence to support meaningful action.

Key Dimensions of the Energy Transition

REFLEXIONS 2026 is structured around three central pillars, each contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the energy transition:

  • Energy Sustainability : This pillar explores how to ensure the long-term environmental viability of energy systems. Participants will address issues such as resource depletion, climate impact, and pollution, and they will work together to identify solutions that reconcile energy access with the limits of the planet.
  • Energy Security : Energy resilience is essential in an era marked by geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain fragility. This theme addresses the robustness of energy infrastructure, national and regional sovereignty over energy sources, and strategies to anticipate or respond to technological and geopolitical disruptions.
  • Energy Justice : The energy transition must also be fair and inclusive. This pillar examines who benefits from energy systems, who bears their costs, and how governance frameworks can be made more representative. It invites participants to consider how historical inequalities might be addressed and how future systems can better support all communities.

Together, these three dimensions: sustainability, security, and justice, form a coherent and inclusive framework for reimagining global energy systems.

IP Paris: Connecting Research, Innovation, and Action

As one of Europe’s leading institutions in science, technology, and interdisciplinary research, IP Paris is uniquely positioned to host a forum of this magnitude. The conference reflects the institute’s commitment to addressing major global challenges through innovation and collaboration. By convening a broad community of experts and stakeholders, REFLEXIONS embodies IP Paris’ mission to translate cutting-edge research into meaningful societal impact.

IP Paris facilitates dialogue, encourages cross-sector collaboration, and helps turn insights into actionable strategies for a resilient, equitable, and sustainable energy future.

Building on Previous Momentum

Looking back at the previous editions, the second REFLEXIONS conference in 2023 focused on regulation for climate change and brought together leaders from science, policy, business, and civil society for a day of intensive debate. The discussions produced valuable insights on science-based regulation, green finance, international cooperation, and consumer behavior, establishing a strong foundation for the deeper systemic conversations that will take place on February 5, 2026 on the campus of Institut Polytechnique de Paris, at École Polytechnique.

The third edition of the REFLEXIONS conference is organized with the support of our interdisciplinary center Energy4Climate (E4C). It will take place on February 5, 2026, on the campus of Institut Polytechnique de Paris, at École Polytechnique. The event will be held in english.

Towards Collective Action

REFLEXIONS 2026 is conceived not only as a conference but also as a catalyst for action. By creating a space where knowledge, expertise, and perspectives converge, IP Paris aims to help define pathways toward an energy future that is resilient, equitable, and sustainable.

All interested participants, including industrial innovators, policymakers, researchers, and civil society actors, are invited to join this important dialogue. Through shared commitment and interdisciplinary engagement, REFLEXIONS 2026 will contribute to shaping energy systems that meet today’s needs without compromising the well-being of future generations.
