VivaTech 2026: Institut Polytechnique de Paris showcases the power of an innovation ecosystem tackling major technological, industrial, and societal challenges

From June 17 to 20, 2026, Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) will participate in the 10th edition of Viva Technology, Europe's flagship event for startups and technological innovation.

Located in Hall 7 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, on stand 3H20 within the Europa Tech zone - alongside Europe's leading innovation players - IP Paris will mobilize its entire ecosystem (startups, incubators, interdisciplinary centers, researchers, students, PhD candidates, and partners) to demonstrate its capacity to transform scientific excellence into high-impact economic, industrial, and societal innovations.

With 27 featured startups, five active incubators, and four of its interdisciplinary centers, Institut Polytechnique de Paris at VivaTech highlights the richness of its innovation ecosystem, built alongside its six member schools. This presence confirms its role as a scientific, technological, and entrepreneurial driver supporting French and European sovereignty and competitiveness.

The signing of new partnerships with top-tier industrial and technological players throughout the event will further illustrate the dynamic of innovation and entrepreneurship driven by IP Paris.

A unique continuum, from fundamental research to the market, to turn research into impact

Bringing together École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, and Télécom SudParis, Institut Polytechnique de Paris has established itself as one of the leading drivers of deeptech innovation in France.

Thanks to the complementary expertise of its six schools, 45 research laboratories, seven interdisciplinary centers, and specialized innovation support structures, IP Paris has developed an integrated model that accelerates the transition from fundamental research to industrial and entrepreneurial applications.

Since 2021, IP Paris has distinguished itself through a steady output of innovations and a strong entrepreneurial momentum. More than 120 patents are filed and over 120 startups are supported each year, with several reaching significant growth levels. This momentum has notably contributed to the rise of unicorns and rapidly expanding scale-ups, while alumni have raised several billion euros, illustrating the Institute's ability to turn scientific excellence into entrepreneurial success.

  • 5 incubateurs mobilized
  • Over 120 startups supported every year
  • Over 120 patents and software applications filed since 2021
  • 10 unicorns and 1/4 of Next40 scale-ups founded or led by alumni, or accelerated within IP Paris incubators
  • Over €5 billion raised since 2021 by companies founded or led by its alumni
  • Nearly €1 million invested annually to develop proofs of concept (PoC) for 10 to 15 emerging deeptech projects

Through its research, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities, IP Paris actively helps address the major challenges facing France and Europe: artificial intelligence, data science, bioengineering, health, energy and climate, technological sovereignty, defense, cybersecurity, quantum computing, robotics, and more.

In a world of intensifying technological competition, innovation is a vital pillar of development for Institut Polytechnique de Paris. We must help tackle the grand challenges facing France and Europe, whether they relate to artificial intelligence, health, the energy transition, sustainable mobility, defense, or security.

27 startups embodying IP Paris' entrepreneurial excellence

Throughout the event, 27 startups originating from IP Paris member schools will showcase their innovations to international investors, industry players, academic partners, and visitors.

Supported by the Institute’s incubators or founded by students, researchers, and alumni, they illustrate IP Paris’ ability to turn scientific breakthroughs into concrete solutions in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, cybersecurity, the energy transition, industry, and the creative industries.

Several startups perfectly exemplify this momentum: Tinental develops an AI and IoT-based energy optimization solution for industrial systems; Venturix offers an innovative airborne offshore wind technology; VAir designs a wearable respiratory diagnostic device; and T Life develops a cellular diagnostic solution combining optics and artificial intelligence.

Five incubators to bring innovations to market

These startups rely on a rich ecosystem consisting of five incubators from the IP Paris member schools: X-UP, Télécom Paris Incubator, IMT Starter, ENSTARTUPS, and Ponts Incubateur. Together, they support over 120 startups annually at every stage of their development, from project structuring to acceleration and market entry.

Complementing this entrepreneurial support, IP Paris fosters collaborations with 300 industrial partners to promote joint projects and technology transfer to the business world.

The next technological breakthroughs will increasingly emerge at the intersection of research, entrepreneurship, and industrial needs. Our role is to create the conditions for this convergence and support projects all the way to their deployment.

Thierry Coulhon, President of Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Interdisciplinary centers to meet tomorrow’s challenges

Alongside the startups, several of IP Paris’ interdisciplinary centers will be featured at the event to illustrate how the Institute leverages its scientific expertise to tackle major contemporary issues.

  • Hi! PARIS, founded jointly with HEC Paris, conducts cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence and data science to address economic and societal challenges.
  • Energy For Climate (E4C) brings together the Institute's expertise around the energy transition and climate change issues.
  • Engineering for Health (E4H) unites a research community dedicated to healthcare challenges at the interface of science, engineering, and life sciences.
  • SPIRAL develops projects bridging technology, creative arts, and cultural industries.

Together, these initiatives illustrate IP Paris’ capacity to foster dialogue between fundamental research, innovation, and industrial needs to accelerate the emergence of tomorrow's technologies.

Training the future leaders of innovation and deeptech

IP Paris' presence at VivaTech also offers a valuable opportunity to raise student awareness about innovation and entrepreneurship challenges. On Thursday, June 18, around twenty students from the six member schools will take part in a Learning Expedition organized at the venue. This immersive experience will allow them to connect with startups, investors, business incubators, and major corporate groups engaged in innovation and intrapreneurship.

The tour will enable students to explore the innovation ecosystem, identify key players of interest for their own projects, and better grasp the opportunities offered by entrepreneurship and deeptech.
