India AI Impact Summit 2026: Institut Polytechnique de Paris at the forefront of Franco-Indian scientific dialogue on artificial intelligence

23 Feb. 2026
One year after the AI Action Summit, for which it organized the scientific days, Institut Polytechnique de Paris participated in the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi from February 16 to 19, 2026.
India AI Impact Summit 2026: Institut Polytechnique de Paris at the forefront of Franco-Indian scientific dialogue on artificial intelligence

IP Paris took part in the “Rencontres Universitaires et Scientifiques de Haut niveau –RUSH, dedicated to the role of higher education and research in the development of artificial intelligence.

The event was marked by the official visit of the President of the Republic and the launch of the France-India Year of Innovation 2026, placing scientific cooperation on artificial intelligence at the highest level of bilateral dialogue.

“There can be no technological sovereignty without scientific sovereignty”

During the AI Impact Summit, RUSH provided a space dedicated to universities and research organizations. It brought together institutional leaders, scientific managers, and public decision-makers to discuss the relationships between higher education, innovation, and technological competitiveness.

Thierry Coulhon, Chairman of Institut Polytechnique de Paris, was the Chairman. He co-chaired the opening session organized at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences with Prof. K. VijayRaghavan.

In a speech devoted to the relationship between higher education, innovation, and geopolitics in the age of artificial intelligence, Thierry Coulhon underlined the strategic nature of academic cooperation between France and India in a world marked by accelerating technological change.

Discussions also focused on the production of scientific knowledge, the training of engineers and, in the international competition surrounding artificial intelligence, the ability of states to sustainably retain high-level skills.

Training global AI talent: Hi! PARIS at the heart of academic cooperation

Training and talent mobility took center stage, proving to be just as crucial as technological infrastructure.

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris, in collaboration with PSL University, the Hi! PARIS and PR[AI]RIE clusters, and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, co-organized a session dedicated to training and applications in artificial intelligence.

The participation of Hi! PARIS, an interdisciplinary center for artificial intelligence and data science founded by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and HEC Paris, provided an opportunity to address the international circulation of scientific skills and the conditions for their development around three main points:

  • the impact of AI on scientific practices, particularly in engineering and health;
  • the training of engineers and researchers in the face of rapidly evolving methods;
  • the technical and scientific conditions necessary for the reliability of AI systems.

India, a strategic partner

While the summit addressed access to computing resources and data –particularly for countries in the Global South – and the transition from regulation to concrete applications of AI in healthcare, agriculture, and education, IP Paris met with several Indian partners on the sidelines of the conferences, including IIT Delhi, to develop cooperation in research and training.

In an increasingly unstable world, science remains one of the most powerful forces for connection. Strategic autonomy does not mean going it alone, but choosing one's partners wisely.

- Thierry Coulhon, Président of Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Such exchanges illustrate IP Paris' international strategy, based on partnerships with major scientific institutions in a context of global competition for talent and technology.
