Master 2

Statistics, Finance and Actuarial Science

Stochastic models are intensively used in financial institutions and insurance companies. Beside model specifications, accurate statistical methods are crucial for the sake of estimation, calibration and forecasting. This trend has been recently strengthened by the rise of data science and machine learning. The program “Statistics, Finance and Actuarial Science” aims to train high-level specialists in the field of random modelling and risk management for the needs of all types of financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, asset managers, hedge funds, etc). To achieve these ambitious goals, a strong level in probability and statistics is required. The curriculum is organized around core courses in time series, machine learning, risk management, actuarial science and mathematical finance. Many advanced courses will allow students to deepen their knowledge of certain technical fields up to the frontiers of research. Finally, our students may have the opportunity to obtain the accreditation as an actuary by the French Institute of actuaries, once they have validated a subset of specialized courses imposed by the Institute.

PhD track in Quantitative Finance: It is possible to combine courses from these options as well as some courses from the M2 “Probability and Finance” and the M2 “Data Sciences for Artificial Intelligence”.
