Nuclear Energy

The Master of Science Nuclear Energy aims at training French and foreign high level students in order to meet the current and future needs of the nuclear industry: optimization of the performances of the current nuclear reactors, design of the third generation facilities (reactors and fuel cycle facilities), development of advanced processes and fourth generation reactors, operation of the current reactors and facilities, dismantling of end-of-life facilities, reprocessing of spent fuel, nuclear & decommissioning waste management.

Started in 2009, this Master was designed together with the support and a dialogue with the leading actors of this field (EDF, AREVA, CEA) to train young engineers, physicists and chemists to be operational on a wide range of jobs and future researchers starting their careers within a research laboratory. The Master takes advantage of the outstanding teaching and research environment supplied by the well-renowned Université Paris-Sud and the French Engineering “Grandes Ecoles” (CentraleSupélec, ENSTA Paris, Ecole Polytechnique, Chimie ParisTech, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, and INSTN), whilst the socio-professional actors of this sector (EDF, AREVA, CEA, ANDRA and IRSN) also participate in the teaching. The Master intends to be the Master of Nuclear Energy at both a national and an international level.
