With more than 2000 researchers in the field of nanosciences, the Ile de France Paris area is the European focal point for nanoscience and nanotechnology publications - representing nearly 40% of the total production in France.

This Year 2 Master’s program enables physics and electrical engineering students to acquire specific scientific skills to study the extraordinary properties of nanostructures and nano-objects. Students will explore a variety of topics from a fundamental point of view and through different applications such as the physical sciences, engineering sciences, biology and medicine.

Objectives

This Master’s program enables students to:

  • Unravel the key concepts of nanosciences from a fundamental physics perspective
  • Benefit from advanced training on device fabrication and characterization techniques
  • Master fundamental concepts and apply them in practical lab work involving different participating institutions and industrial labs

Most students (79%) choose to continue their studies with PhD in an academic or industrial research laboratory. 

Graduates will also be equipped to build successful careers relating to nanosciences and emerging technologies:

  • Researcher or teacher-researcher
  • Research and development engineer in the field of optics, nanoelectronics, materials, biosciences, biotechnologies or health

Admission requirements

Academic prerequisites

Completion of the first year of a Master in physics at Institut Polytechnique de Paris or equivalent in France or abroad.

Language prerequisites

English
